vCenter Server Appliance - no web interface on port 5480

  • 1.  vCenter Server Appliance - no web interface on port 5480

    Posted Nov 18, 2013 10:11 AM

    Dear VMware Community!

I don't have any web interface after install. Could you help me to solve this issue?

I installed successfully VMware-ESXi-5.5.0, and then downloaded and deployed VMware-vCenter-Server-Appliance-5.5.0.5101-1398493.

This is nmap scan results of vCenter Server Appliance:

    Starting Nmap 6.40 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2013-11-18 10:47 Środkowoeuropejski czas stand.
    Host is up (0.00s latency).
    Not shown: 96 closed ports
    PORT     STATE    SERVICE
    22/tcp   open     ssh
    135/tcp  filtered msrpc
    8009/tcp filtered ajp13
    8080/tcp filtered http-proxy
    MAC Address: 00:0C:29:A1:86:C9 (VMware)
Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 0.86 seconds

I hope that some of you faced with this problem, because I can't find a solution!:-)

In attached file you can find screenshot form console.

    Cheers!

By the way, from default virtual machine hardware version is 7, I upgraded it to 10 but without any change.

    Ok,

Can you please try to execute this command  :

    VCSA:~ # netstat -plantu | grep 5480

    tcp        0      0 :::5480                 :::*                    LISTEN      2486/vami-lighttpd

    VCSA:~ #

    And post the output.

    Regards,

    Julien

    localhost:~ # netstat -plantu | grep 5480

    localhost:~ #

    Nothing on output!

There is no web service available, I tried to deploy vCenter two times, but sill the same issue.

This is clean vCenter instance downloaded from VMware, I didn't change anything.

    I need some help,

    Cheers!

I did have the same problem initially after upgrading from 5.1 to 5.5a.

This may sound idiotic, but it started to work after a reboot of the appliance.

I tried to deploy version 5.0 - it works without any problems, web interface on 5480 port is accessible.

On appliance version 5.5a web interface doesn't work. Does anyone from Vmware know about this problem??

if you were able to solve the issue can you please post how you fixed, or the kb article that may help.

I have a very similar issue. After installing vcenter appliance i cant reach the webinterface. I know that it's listening on 5480. Both telnet and netstat show the port to be listening....

I was experiencing the same problem. It was because firewall enabled and proxy was set in the browser settings.
