I have Windows 11 Pro and tried to convert my Hyper-V vm to VMware using "VMware vCenter Converter Standalone" but I couldn't pass "permission to perform this operation was denied" when I choose the VM.

Please let me know how I can give the required permission to continue.

    Thanks

To perform operations with VMware vCenter Converter Standalone, you need to have certain vCenter Server permissions set at the data center level. Here are the minimum privileges you need to set:

    1. Datastore.Allocate space
    2. Datastore.Browse datastore
    3. Host.Local operations.Create virtual machine
    4. Host.Local operations.Delete virtual machine
    5. Host.Local operations.Reconfigure virtual machine
    6. Network.Assign network (required only if you plan to connect the destination virtual machine to a network)
    7. Resource.Assign virtual machine to resource pool
    8. Virtual machine.Configuration
    9. Virtual machine.Interaction.Power On (required only if you choose to power on the destination virtual machine after conversion)
    10. Virtual machine.Inventory
    11. Virtual machine.Provisioning.Allow disk access
    12. Virtual machine.Provisioning.Allow read-only disk access

For converting Linux and powered on Windows machines, you might require additional vCenter Server privileges:

    1. Virtual machine.Interaction.Configure CD media (required only if you need to boot a converted Linux virtual machine to install media after the conversion)
    2. Virtual machine.Snapshot management.Create snapshot (required only if you want to synchronize changes between the source and destination Windows virtual machine)
    3. Virtual machine.Snapshot management.Remove Snapshot (required only if you want to synchronize changes between the source and destination Windows virtual machine)

For more information on vSphere vCenter Server permissions and privileges, refer to the Using VMware vCenter Converter Standalone 6.3 guide.

I'm having the same issue -- also trying to convert local standalone Windows 11 Hyper-V machine to VMware. Did you figure it out?
