    Hi!

Is it possible to connect a SATA-RDX-drive directly to a VM?

You can use it as a RDM (Raw Device Mapping) device. That means teher's no VMFS partition on but the guest puts its native partition and filesystem on.

    Read this: http://pubs.vmware.com/vsp40/server_config/c_raw_device_mapping.html

Did using RDM work to get your RDX drive working? We're looking to do the same thing with ESX4.1 on our Dell 2970 with a internal RDX (RD1000) drive. I'd love to be able to use it with BackupExec instead of tapes. Internal RDX drives are SATA, can you setup a RDM to a SATA drive?
