I Actually discovered the exact same problems with my setup.
Got my Hands on a Server - for which I Installed Ununtu18.04 and have allso tried Debian 4.9 - for running MythTV on this server instead
Can see the devices - configure the units. etc - Ca see all firmware are loaded to the DVB-S/S2 Device

I can see both dvbscan,w_scan and MythTV - are locking on the transport - but finds no Channel. Is this only a problem with the initial scanning or isn't it poossible anymore to scan for dvb-S/S2
trying 'S f = 11357 kHz H SR = 24500 7/8 0,35 QPSK (0:0:0)'
(time: 02:00.511) signal ok: S f = 11357 kHz H SR = 24500 7/8 0,35 QPSK (0:0:0)
Info: no data from PAT after 2 seconds
deleting (S f = 11357 kHz H SR = 24500 7/8 0,35 QPSK (0:0:0))
trying 'S f = 11372 kHz V SR = 24500 7/8 0,35 QPSK (0:0:0)'
(time: 02:03.719)
trying 'S f = 11389 kHz H SR = 24500 7/8 0,35 QPSK (0:0:0)'
(time: 02:06.187) signal ok: S f = 11389 kHz H SR = 24500 7/8 0,35 QPSK (0:0:0)
Info: no data from PAT after 2 seconds
deleting (S f = 11389 kHz H SR = 24500 7/8 0,35 QPSK (0:0:0))
And my Old MythTV running on 16.04 doesn't have that problem - but neither allso the the newest MythTV
Finalizing the scanning with
ERROR: Sorry - i couldn't get any working frequency/transponder
Nothing to scan!!
