  • 1.  Upgrade Esxi 6.5 to Esxi 6.7 release 202403001

    Posted May 17, 2024 05:17 PM

    Hi community,
    My name is Emiliano.

I have an Esxi 6.5 without vCenter and I would like to update it to version 6.7 release 202403001.
Will I be able to update it directly, without intermediate updates?

What is the correct update procedure?

I am looking forward to your response
    Regards

We were able to upgrade from 6.5 --> 6.7 no issues

According to https://interopmatrix.vmware.com/Upgrade?productId=1&isHidePatch=true&isHideLegacyReleases=false an upgrade from 6.5 to 6.7 U3 is not an option, and you may need to do a 2 step upgrade. I can't tell you whether this is indeed not possible, or if it is just a documentation issue.

However, depending on your hardware (and assuming ESXi 6.7 supports it) you may need to do a two step upgrade anyway, where the first step would be an upgrade using a vendor customized version, which includes required drivers, and the second step to apply the latest patch.

Regarding the upgrade procedure, I usually do such upgrades from the command line using the esxcli software ... command.

Kissan is correct that vCenter 6.x is not longer supported and I would highly encourage you to move to at least 7.0.3 Update X so you are on a more stable build.
