  • 1.  Updates stuck in Queued state

I have a brand-new Vsphere 4 installation. I am very new to VMWare. I have noticed that for the past several days that I have a message at the bottom of the screen that says the Vcenter update manager update download is in queued state. These appear to have been there for several days. I don't really see anything indicating why this is staying in queued state. I am wondering if maybe it uses non-standard ports and is being blocked by my firewall. If that was the case, would it not fail and give me an error? Anyone have any ideas why this is happening? And possibly how I can correct it?

    TIA,

    Eric

it's probably a stuck or non cleared recent task. What happens if you restart your vCenter Server Service and it wouldn't hurt to restart your VUM services as well.

I restarted the VUM service and it immediately went out and looked for updates and completed in like 5 seconds. The Queued jobs did not clear, but it looks like it CAN successfully run the updates. I will try restarting the other services tonight and see if it keeps these jobs from getting stuck in queue.

    Thanks

the "old" recent task will (or should I say should) get cleared out when you restart your vCener Server Service.
