  • 1.  unable to see HBA on DL585 G5

    Hi,

    I have installed ESXi 4.1 U1 on DL585 G5 server which has an 8G HBA card.

    From vsphere client I can see ISP2532-based 8G fibre channel with vmhba2 & 3

    the switch (DS300B swith ) does not seem to see the hba, althought I am working on this with EMC, do I need to update the drivers for the hba ??

    Although I only did a quick look the ISP2532 did not appear to be supported by ESX(i) 4.x only 3.5 http://vmware.com/go/hcl It is possible that the card is listed another way and does have support. It may also have HP support directly. I would check.

    Other things to look at: Make sure that you have current firmware updates. Card and DL580.

    I checked http://partnerweb.vmware.com/comp_guide2/search.php?deviceCategory=io and the card seems to be supported

    the keyword I entered is AJ764A

    Hello,

    I had a similiar issue on my new HP DL380 G7s and I was ripping my hair out.  After an entire afternoon I found that the GBICs in teh HBA cards werent seated in all the way!  I had to push them in to hear a second click, it was pretty unintuitive.  Hope this can help.
