  • 1.  Unable to remove SATA AHCI controller from passthrough

I configured an Intel 6-port SATA AHCI controller for passthrough, and now none of my virtual machines show up. In fact, the host doesn't even realize that there's a datastore. I am unable to correct this situation either - when I uncheck the controller from passthrough, and reboot the host, the controller shows up as checked and configured for passthrough again. Editing the /etc/vmware/esx.conf file to change the device owner results in the same thing - after a reboot the file reverts back to what it was. I even copied the local.tgz file to another machine, untarred the file, and edited the esx.conf file, re-tarred it, and copied it back, but that doesn't work either. Is there any way to get the configuration back to the way it was (no passthrough)?

The problem was fixed by going into BIOS and changing the disk operation from RAID/AHCI  to RAID/ATA. All the VMs re-appeared. Don't think passthrough is available now, but that's something I can figure out later.
