Unable to remove LUN

A LUN was created by our storage team but was not used and then asked to be reclaimed.  I did a disable on the LUN but when I run the esxcfg-mpath -b, this is what I get:

vmhba1 state: active

vmhba2 state:  off

Can someone advise how to get the state:dead?
