  • 1.  Unable to Install OS on New Virtual Machines

Since yesterday we're having a problem with new virtual machines. I'm able to create/edit the VM through VI, but when I power it on it starts the install process and after you press Enter to install Windows it says it's unable to find a hard disk. When you reboot you get the VMWare splashscreen for a second and then a dash in the upper right hand corner that remains indefinitely. If you reboot it you get the same. Is there something that I'm missing or that I should check with respect to the failure.

I have seen that happen a few times, if you miss the F6 and power it off you then get the dash appearing, you just have to play about with it, remove the ISO try booting then add the ISO again, a few times I had to just delete and create the vm again. As for the no hard drive error what OS are you building you may have to press F6 to add the storage driver?

Tried removing the iso and booting but it did the same. I did delete the VM, recreated it on another LUN and tried again w/ the same ISO. I got the same result.

I'm installing XP Pro like I've done in the past. I've never had to hit anything for additional storage, but I'll look into it.
