  • 1.  Unable to create shared disk for SQL cluster

    Posted Mar 21, 2011 03:26 PM

I am running in a test environment two Dell Optiplex 360 ESXi 4.1 boxes. Each one has one sata drive installed. I also have another server running openfiler nas for iscsi. Both ESXi boxes have Server 2008 32bit installed. When I use iscsi initator on each box and connect the drive I navigate to the cluster manager and add the storage. It shows it just fine but once I click ok I get the following error "Unable to cluster 'Cluster Disk 1'. An error occurred while attempting to bring the resource 'Cluster Disk 1' online. The cluster resource could not be brought online by the resource monitor." Has anyone else experienced this?

    Thanks,

    Thomas

    Hello.

The issue here is that Openfiler doesn't work with 2008 Clustering.  You will need to find another storage solution to use.  There is some info on this at the Openfiler forums and in kb 1026596.

    Good Luck!
