Unable to connect to any VM using VRMC 12. (Invalid parameter) ticketType

I get this on a newly installed ESXi 8 and VCSA 8.

It is unclear but it i have tried things like host file changes and such.

I have no issues with name resolution to either the host FQDN and the VCSA FQDN.

Not finding much that is recent with regards to this error.

Are you able to connect to VM via RDP? 

Do you have VMware tools installed?

No, i do not.  Just the VMRC

Try to update VMware tools to newest version. 

Do you use the latest VMRC Version? 12.0.4?

Yes, i am using VRMC 12.04 or whatever was current a couple of days ago.

 

(Edited out) vmware tools are not required on my laptop to connect to VMs?

And i have 5 different OSs and they all fail the same way trying to connect to MKS on the vCenter

Can you check the Firewall ports, and also FQDN!!

Firewall ports are open, the app has a direct exclusion.  Meaning anything the app wants, it may have.

As for the FQDNs, all of them were verified earlier.

In the log, I get.. cui::MKS::OnAcquireAbort (A408058): A specified parameter was not correct: ticketType

The number being some thread number which is irrelevant.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled VMRC 12.0.4.

My colleague just logged in and he connected fine.

So the problem is solved as far as I understood. or just only you are not able to login

No, the problem is not solved.

He can use the program on his machine but i cannot on mine.

Uninstalling and reinstalling has no impact on this.  I have even stepped back a version.

Sweety, the problem is not in VMRC 12 itself. 

Something is not ok on your machine.

 

Try to use your credentials on his machine and to test VMRC.

While I agree there is something wrong with my profile, I logged on with my admin account on the same machine and it works.

So I am looking for something I can cleanup to fix this for my profile.  Registry, local setings, etc...

Ok, i did finally solve it.

I cleared the directory

C:\Users\{me}\AppData\Roaming\VMware

of all files and tried again and it worked.

Clearing %appdata%\VMware\ helped for me too.
