tried to commit the same with vCenter as well as CLI i.e vmware-cmd /vmfs/........../vmdir removesnapshots

while commiting a snspashot in vcenter and CLI it's show it's sucessfully done, but while browsing a datastore it's shows mutiple delta files.

Do you use a backup application to do an image based backup of the VM? Maybe a process got stuck which now locks one of the .vmdk files. Please check the backup system's log files for any errors in this case. You may also be able to release the lock by restarting the management agents on the host (see http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1003490).

I used to see this at times in the ESX days with maybe a hostd issue or as mentioned another process stuck.

If it looks the snapshot did commit from the vcenter side but there are stell left over files sometimes adding a new snapshot and deleting all has cleared them. But I would be careful if you are still getting commit errors.
