  • 1.  Unable to boot into Windows PE with MDT or SCCM

    Hi, I am trying to setup a win 7 vmware system with either sccm or mdt.

    So I have a boot iso for both and I have injected the nic drivers from the vmware tools folder but I cannot get the nic to work.

    The ESX server is an old IBM 346 server. I think its a broadcom nic on the x346 server. Model says Broadcom Corporation eServer xSeres server mainboard.

    On the ESXi server itself it says 82566DC-2 Gigabit Network Connection.

    Any ideas what drivers I should be using ?

    I have added vmxnet3ndis6.inf 1.1.6.0 / 1.0.0.``

    vmxnet.inf 2.0.3.6

    On a manual pc that was built the nic installed is Intel Pro/1000 MT Network.

    I would appreciate any help, been stuck on this for a while now.

    Welcome to the forums.

    I would use the e1000 drivers. This kind of question isn't really related to VMware. There are probably better places to ask. I would also expand your acronyms. Mountain Daylight Time isn't particularly appropriate.

    Sorry I should of explained the acronymns - MDT - Microsoft Deployment Toolkit. I really have tried lots and lots of places on the web and couldnt find much assistence which is why I asked here and you will be pleased to know you have resolved the issue, I changed the NIC TO e1000 and now windows pe boots up fine. Thanks for your assistence, much appreciated.

    I am having this same issue. VMXNET3 driver will be not work with MDT (Microsoft Deployment Toolkit). Is anyone having success deploying a VM via MDT with a VMXNET3 nic on the VM?
