    Hello,

I am curious about the TOE. On my physical 2008 servers, my build procedure includes enabling TCP Offloading. I am working on my 2008 VM templates and am a little confused. In a 2008 physical machine, I run the command "netsh int tcp set global chimney=enabled" and tweak the NIC properties to enable TCP Offloading.

I am not sure if I should do this in the VM config. Does ESX4 even support TCP offloading, and if so, does it happen at the host level, or does it happen inside the VM and the vNIC level? I tried googling and stuff. I haven't even looked at the vNIC properties inside the VM to see if this is an option ... but the whole concept of TOE on a physical server doesn't seem like it would be advantageous in a virtual environment, since the same processor would actually be doing all of the TOE work ... right?

What are you guys doing with TOE? Any whitepapers I should look at?

    Thanks,

    -Steve
