  • 1.  Support for Dell PERC Controllers

    I recently purchased an entry level Dell server and I am having trouble installing VMware ESXi 5.  Before the install it asks me to select a disk to install and the list comes up empty.  I searched on the HCL list and I I am not sure if the controller that I am using is supported.  The controller in the Dell PowerEdge R210 is a PERC S300.  Is it supported?

    If not is there a list of Dell PERC controllers that it does support so I can purchase the correct RAID controller.

    Welcome to the Community - According to the HCL - http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php it is not supported as a RAID controlled - I am sure this has to do with it being a software RAID controller.

    You can use the HCL to find a supported PERC controller -
