Finally got Converter3 to build this VM from a remote physical host (Dell GX270D, 3GHz P4, 1024MB; WinXP+SP2) after several false starts. Now I'm getting STOP 0x7f errors (even with a safe-mode boot), which don't really have any reasonable explanation in anything I've googled.

I'm considering going back to the physical host and removing any custom drivers, but thought I'd query this group to see if anyone else has run into (and solved!) this issue.

Can you try running the "Configure Only" wizard on the resulting VM?

Because I didn't install the Agent on the machine I'm "driving" the conversion on, I can only work on remote physical machines.

If my driver-removal plan doesn't work, then I'll have to 'take steps.'

If you're running any sort of virtual hardware on the physical machine (e.g., DaemonTools for virtual DVD/CD), you may find that the converter makes bad decisions on how to handle it. Remove it and re-try to convert.

After removing both DaemonTools and the WIDCOMM Bluetooth software (for a USB bluetooth adapter that I never really use anyway), plus some other software that potentially impacts the kernel, we're able to get this VM loaded. Yay!

    I'm useing VMware-server-2.0.1 install on Mandriva 2009.1.

    My CPU is Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 1.70GHz.

There are same events in my gurst OS in default setting.

I found a key point. When I turn off "Virtualized MMU" to "Do not use these features".

The problem resolved. (Default is "Allow the host to determine automatically".)
