Stand alone conversion of Windows 7 to vm with boot failure

I have used the stand alone converter to create a virtual machine from my Dell running Windows 7.  The result is a virtual machine in which "Windows failed to start....

Status:  0xc0000225

Info:       The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

This is not an OEM version of  Windows.  I was, perhaps too optimistically, thinking this would simply work.   Has anyone seen this previously and had any luck salvaging the image.   I've booted from my Windows installation disk and let the repair run, but see no different results.

Same exact error on Dell XPS420 Desktop.  Did you get anywhere with your problem?
