    Hello,

I was just wondering if I could a setup like this:
    ESXI 5 on USB

    iSCSI for storage

    SSD for cache

If that is possible, how can I do it?

    Thanks :smileyhappy:

Hi and thanks for your reply!

I've never worked with iSCSI before and I got a NAS that supports it, so I thought I would go about utilizing it (also gonna use port trunking to it for speed).

So, how can I then install ESXI? Do I need an internal harddrive?

Like you suggested, install ESXi to USB.

    Sorry, I got reading difficulties.

Anyhow, so I can handle ESXI on a USB with iSCSI as storage with SSD caching perfectly?

Also another question, how does my ESXI operate if I don't have a SSD for local caching? Does it cache on my iSCSI storage? I'm planing on building a low cost server - and maybe implement SSD later on.

Thanks for good help, booth of you :smileyhappy:
