  • 1.  SRM Errors

I decommissioned some old servers, and am trying to reconfigure SRM to mirror the new environment. Initially I couldn't add one new server to one of the Protection Groups: error msg is "Unable to find a matching consistency group at the local site for the remote consistency group". I have only seen that error once in this forum, and it didn't seem applicable to my situation: https://communities.vmware.com/t5/Site-Recovery-Manager/Problem-with-reprotecting-VMs/m-p/986749

I know my SRM configuration, so I removed and am rebuilding it a piece at a time. I created one Site Pair and one Protection Group, and am now unable to configure protection: "Operation Failed. There are not enough licenses installed to perform the operation." I haven't added, modified, or removed SRM licenses this year, so I'm confused what went wrong. Also, this is one Protection Group, I haven't configured the rest of the Protection Groups yet, and these 3 servers in this Protection Group don't put me over my license count.

    My environment:
    • vCenter Server 6.5 U3s
    • Host version ESXi 6.5.0 U3
    * Site Recovery Manager v8.3 in Kansas City MO (primary site) & Chicago IL (failover site)

    Thanks!

Did you reinstall the SRM ? if so  check if you have assign the license to assets.

I have not reinstalled SRM, but I did stop and restart the 3 SRM services on both of my SRM servers.

I also confirmed in Administration -> Licenses -> Assets -> Solutions that my SRM license to my vCenter is still valid on both sides.

I logged out of SRM, and back in on both sides, and am still getting the same error:

"There are not enough licenses installed to perform the operation."

    Both issues have been resolved

"Unable to find a matching consistency group at the local site for the remote consistency group".

Resolved by reconfiguring a datastore, rescanned my ESX storage, and was able to identify and add the new server to the appropriate VM Protection Group.

"Operation Failed. There are not enough licenses installed to perform the operation."

Resolved by removing my SRM licenses in vSphere, stopping and restarting the SRM services on the SRM Windows servers, and re-adding the SRM licenses in vSphere. Before and After showed the same number of licenses being consumed (still under the license count threshold), not sure what changed, but this resolved the error msg.
