    good morning.

I'm not necessarily new to the VSphere / ESXI but recently. I've been having troubles that I cannot seem to fix or get a common resolution with version 7. I had built a new host using a Lenovo ThinkCentre M920s. I'm coming from an old HP ProLiant that's a little too much for me for my use. plus it's a few years old and was already used ( acquired it from a school system) it has ESXI 6.7, I also have 3 HP ProDesk SFF that host a web server (dedicated), FreePBX(dedicated) and a game server, (minecraft, quake, unreal - dedicated)

anyway - i already got it all set up so when I go to change the IPv4 settings and host name. it works great till the machine get restarted. then it goes back to DHCP and the hostname changes back. that's an issue. it's like the settings are not sticking. I can't even get the 4 Port Gigabit Intel Card to stick to settings either ( I have that so I can run a static IP for my FreePBX VM)

the root password will not stick either. works fine, PC restarts, back to old one. with that said, the users I created dont work either.

I also seemingly lose VMs. the one Windows VM that I have set up for a testing environment seems to be... missing? its sole purpose is to make sure applications are good before I run them in productions. kind of a sandbox, if you will.

this whole mess is frustrating. none of my servers are mission critical (maybe the FreePBX). all I'm doing is consolidating stuff down to one, maybe two boxes and virtualizing what I can  - any and all help, tips, tricks etc will be appreciated.

(side note - Lenovo ThinkCentre with 8th Generation Core i5 with 32GB of RAM. four 120GB Western Digital Green m.2 SSDs attached into a Star Tech 3.5 Adapter all of which are connected to in 4 port sata on the motherboard for storage, one 250GB Western Digital Blue NVMe M.2 attached directly to the NVMe slot that boots ESXI. finally I have a 4 Port Gigabit Intel NIC for load balancing, and a place to point the FreePBX from the firewall / router)

Please run /sbin/auto-backup.sh form the command line to see whether it throws errors.
