  • 1.  SAN performance monitoring tools?

Hey guys, wondering what tools you use to measure your storage performance, outside of the Vcenter performance monitor?

I've been trying IOmeter, but wondering if other tools are better?

I wasn't impressed with my results using IOmeter either, so if anyone cares to share some performance stats from their Iscsi SAN environment I would appreciate it...

    Thanks

Awhile back we purchased Akorri Balancepoint, since purchased by Netapp, to assist us with storage monitoring.   Other than that most of the VMware monitoring solutions like Solarwindows and vKernel will provide vm storage specific info.

IOAnalyzer is a neat performance analysis fling created by VMware Labs.

    eeg3,

I setup the IOanalyzer virtual appliance and started doing some tests with it, pretty cool little tool. One problem I have is it won't show results from the guest level, only host level... You ever run into that problem? Checked the IOanalyzer forum, but not much for responses in there...

    Thanks

    Hi,

    what storage are you running.

If you are running HP/EMC/Dell you can get those tools free from their website. Just make sure your firmware is up to date.
