    Problem:

I have a few fedora linux VMs that I'm running on ESXi...vSphere 4.1 u1.  I have users that are xrdp-ing to these machines.  Is there a way to allow them to use dual monitors?  I would prefer that they not have to run two separate sessions (ie connect twice).  I've tried changing the .vmx file so that it changes the width to the width of both monitors added together, but that didn't work.  The Linux OS isn't recognizing that I have two monitors, though.

I know there's a way to do this with the nvidia drivers, but since this uses the VMware drivers, I'm kind of at a loss.  I use the Windows RDP client to connect and I've configured that in several different ways to try and get it to work as well.

    Any other suggestions???

    Thanks!

I don't have a lot of experience setting up an RDP session to linux workstations.  But I'd question why you'd want to do so.  I could see doing this in a scenario where you perhaps need to be able to connect/disconnect without closing down applications and such.  Otherwise I'd ditch the RDP solution, configure XDMCP and use an X server on the client workstations such as Xming.

Seems like that would be a whole lot less of a headache.

Thanks...that's a pretty good suggestion!  I'd still like to hear if anyone else has dual monitors running using some sort of rdp or vnc or whatever remote x windows session.

Well, it's my understanding that it's pretty much impossible to do this using vSphere.  I got it working using Fedora and Workstation, though.
