  • 1.  Restart VM automatically after reboot ESXI

    Hello everyone,

I have one question about vSphere 6.7.

Its possible to configure VM to restart automatically after reboot esxi ? Because, i saw on few websites they say :

If the host is part of a vSphere HA cluster, the automatic startup and shutdown of virtual machines will be disabled.

We are 3 esxi on a cluster HA and on vCenter  the order is start manualy and cant change it.

    Thanks for help.

    Hi,

    As per;

Edit Virtual Machine Startup and Shutdown Settings in the vSphere Web Client

Its indeed true you can not use automatic start/stop combined with HA.

HA will restart the VM's for you in case of a host failure.

    Hi,

you can configure the shutdown/ startup sequence, but it might not be working as expected. Therefore I would avoid using this feature. It works flawless for single hosts.

    Hi

You can change it from ESXi web client. If you can't do it, remove host from cluster ,change it and join it again.

    • Log into vSphere Web Client:

      • Open a web browser and log in to your vSphere environment using the vSphere Web Client URL (https://<vcenter_server>/vsphere-client).
      • Enter your credentials (username and password).
    • Navigate to the Host:

      • In the Navigator pane on the left side, click on Hosts and Clusters.
      • Select the Host where you want to configure the autostart for the virtual machines.
    • Access the Host's Settings:

      • Click on the Configure tab at the top.
      • Under the System section, click on VM Startup/Shutdown.
    • Enable and Configure Autostart:

      • In the VM Startup/Shutdown settings window, click Edit.
      • Check the box for Enable VM Startup/Shutdown.
      • Set the desired startup order for the VMs, and configure the Delay and Start Action (e.g., whether to Start, Stop, or Do Nothing).
    • Set VM Startup/Shutdown Order:

      • For each VM that you want to auto-start, select it and adjust its Startup Order. You can specify the order of the VMs by dragging them into the preferred sequence.
      • You can also configure Delay times for each VM to control how long after the host starts up the VM should begin powering on.
    • Save the Configuration:
