  • 1.  Removing Error Message: Misconfigured vCenter

    Posted Jun 16, 2015 04:41 AM

While installing vCenter in linked-mode; we had a misconfiguration with an old vCenter server. We managed to create another one and configure that in linked-mode but somehow the previous Old vCenter's entry got stuck with our main server. Now everytime I login; I get this error. Can anyone tell me how can i remove this error message (or remove the trace of our old misconfigured vcetner server).

    Thank you.

    1. Disable linked-mode in old vCenter. Refer: VMware KB: Disabling Linked Mode for VMware vCenter Server 4.x and 5.x

    2. Reboot your old vCenter

    3. Join you old vCenter with newly created linked-mode

I faced the same kind of issue and the above helped me to fix.

The problem is; That old vcenter is no more so I wont be able to isolate that as its non-existent. Is there another way to remove this trace so am not bothered by this prompt every time I sign in?

    I got your problem now.

So, If you wanted to isolate the old entries from ADAM databse, please follow VMware KB: Isolating vCenter Server from a linked mode configuration fails

It's a bit difficult one to follow. But, it will vanish the old vCenter entries permanently.
