Reading ESX logs and vsphere logs

I am trying to read the logs on the esx servers. What is the best way to read them? vi and the name of the log? I also need to go back two days prior to today. Also the vsphere only seems to show logs for the last 24 hours how can i see the logs prior to that?

You can use in vSphere client : File - Export - Export System Logs and select required objects, created archive contain logs as client so vcenter and esx
