    Hey Guys,

Check the NIC BIOS and see if the NIC is presented properly

I would try to see if the adapter is in the PCI list, you might get some more information following the steps below:

    - Check if the adapter is showing up in the iLO\iDRAC or whatever is your host management client.

    - List Ethernet PCIs from the ESXi CLI using:

    #lspci -v | grep Ethernet

    #lspci -v | grep hba

Also might be worth it to get the adapter ID from this command:

    #vmkchdev -l | grep vmhba

    #vmkchdev -l | grep vmnic

And run it against the compatibility guide: VMware Compatibility Guide - System Search

    Hey Guys,

i startet my (self builded) server today and i dont know why but now the nics are there...

But the Ports are offline so they dosent the a signal.

At the moment my PC is direct connected to the Server and i can the a Link on the Green LED. But if i change the Fibre Channel Cable to the other Port the LED dosent switch or blink or something.

I started the the server again but they are gone on the webclient.. only the HBA are there

    here the console commands:

the outpout is the same! with showing NIC´s and when they are gone

I see that the vmnics are listed and being recognized by the ESXi server:

0000:09:00.0 Network controller Ethernet controller: QLogic Corp HP StorageWorks CN1000Q Dual Port Converged Network Adapter [vmnic2]

0000:09:00.1 Network controller Ethernet controller: QLogic Corp HP StorageWorks CN1000Q Dual Port Converged Network Adapter [vmnic3]

    0000:09:00.0 1077:8020 103c:3346 vmkernel vmnic2

    0000:09:00.1 1077:8020 103c:3346 vmkernel vmnic3

Are they showing up now in the esxcli network nic list command?

I tried to run these ID numbers (1077:8020 103c:3346) against the compatibility guide (VMware Compatibility Guide - I/O Device Search ) and couldn't find this adapter in the 6.7 supported list. Might be a compatibility issue.

Lastly, the fact that you can't see the led blinking seems like a physical issue, as the switchport being down.

the command i will try when iam home (in 7 hours)

in the vmware compatibility search i found my QLE8242

VMware Compatibility Guide - I/O Device Search

and there are driver for 6.7 U2 and so on

and my pc is directly connected to the server so i don't have a switch between them

The driver you found on this link is the FCoE: Device Type : FCoE CNAs "qlnativefc"

In the Device Type you are looking for "Network", this one runs the vmnics.
