Problem with Update to Workstation 17.6 - Installer Error

Hi,

I try Update 17.5.2 to 17.6, but I get this Error on two different Windows 11 Pro Systems. (German Windows Install) maybe that can be the Problem?

Because in the error "Users is not a valid user or group"

In the German Windows System there is ony a "Benutzer" Group,
is this the problem ?

When I install 17.5.2 again it will work with the old version, but has removed the license settings.

But a quick fix from Broadcom would be better.

Same problem with Fr-fr version of Windows 11 Pro. "Users" group is "Utilisateurs" in french...

Count yourself lucky that you were even able to download 17.6. I am stuck in the nightmare loop that is Broadcom awful support, and can't download. chatbots reset themselves before you get a chance to type anything. I don't think they give a c r a p about us little guys.

Hi, i have the same problem with 17.6 on my Swedish version of Windows 11. I install the 17.5.2 again and that works without problems. Regards Mathias

not working for me too. my computer is set to fr-fr. looks like the language of the os breaks the installer...

Same problem here. Some suggested to change or modify permissions in Windows, adding some groups to localgroup. I don't suggest doing this because security issues. My suggestion is wait to devs fix this. Is not so hard to find what's is going on. 

I stopped using VirtualBox due to the poor quality control and bugs they accumulated over time and buying a Vmware Pro license was the way I found to use a virtualization product free of these problems. The only thing I really hope is that they don't break my beloved Vmware Pro after this corporate purchase.

It's embarrassing that the program costs so much and they didn't test it - what to expect next? Windows crash during run. Not to mention other errors, e.g. when pausing VM workstation is freeze.

Same here with W11 Pro DE

But it did very successfully kill my previous installation and didn't roll it back after failure. 

And all that after an overcomplicated and time stealing download procedure. Thanks for nothing.
