  • 1.  ports required for a vcenter host to talk to a linked vcenter

    http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r41/vsp_41_esx_vc_installation_guide.pdf

This lists some ports required for a vcenter server to communicate with a linked vcenter server.

    List of networking ports:

We are contemplating deploying linked vcenter instances in remote locations.

Those locations require restrictive firewall settings.

What ports are required to communicate between a vcenter instance and it's linked vcenter children?

Only TCP Port 636 traffic between vcenter's is required?

I believe there is a maximum of 10 Linked vCenter Systems permitted in the group.

    Ports required:

I believe it is just port 636 as your posted.

    See this KB article.

636SSL port of the local instance for vCenter Linked Mode.
