  • 1.  PM 2.0 connection cannot be established on ESXi host dashboard for ESXi8.0

    Posted Nov 06, 2022 12:50 AM

    Hello team,

I upgraded to 8.0 version because this version is enabled for Windows11 option as guest OS.  Now, I'm trying to install Windows11, but I got the message like PM 2.0 connection cannot be established on ESXi host dashboard.

In fact, Windows11 can't be installed.  I got stuck during setting up.  The error message was like ""This PC doesn't currently meet the minimum system requirements to run Windows 11".  Well, the Windows11 was run on this PC actually and TPM2.0 is enabled on BIOS.  Also, secure boot is enabled.

This is Asrock mother board and CPU is i9-9900K.  I know this will not be a list of HW comatibility for VMware, but Windows11 can be installed with TPM2.0 as guest OS I think.

I appreciate for your help in here.

    Regards,

    Hi,

Your question is answered in the official documentation that you can consult here:
    https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/7.0/com.vmware.vsphere.vm_admin.doc/GUID-6F811A7A-D58B-47B4-84B4-73391D55C268.html

Put simply, the vTPM object that you can add to a virtual machine has no correlation with the presence of a physical TPM object (whatever it is) on your host running ESXi because it is a software construct which, in order to be used, has specific requirements specified in the documentation that I invite you to consult
