  • 1.  Physical SharePoint Server to Virtual conversion

    Posted Sep 11, 2007 05:45 PM

I'm trying to convert a HP ProLiant Physical Windows 2k3 Standard with SP2 server running SharePoint 2007 to a Virtual machine.

The job runs fine up to about 11% then slows down drastically. I left it running for about 24hours before it failed on 70%

This is the only server to date which has had a problem.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Are your users still accessing the system during the hot clone? If so, try to keep them off during the conversion.

There are no users connected and I also stopped the web services. I attempted another clone yesterday for the third time after stopping the services but the conversion still grinded to a halt.

Can you first run chkdsk /f

Then can you defrag your disks

then run the conversion again - try it without resizing the volumes
