I have a physical Windows 2003 server that we'd like to P2v but the C drive only has about 100mb remaining.  The D drive has 25GB.    My preference is to install Converster onto this server and run it locally but since C drive is so low on space it may be best to do it remotely .   However, i wondered if there is a way to still run it locally if I install Converter on the D drive.  Is that possible?

With only 100MB left, I'd strongly recommend you free up some disk space prior to doing anything else to avoid issues (not only related to the converter). What I have done in the past in such situations, is to configure the pagefile location for the server, which will usually free up a few GB (depending on it's current size).

You can't converter machine with such small free space - you'll need much more space for VSS. Cleanup the disk before conversion; installing Converter in different place is not a problem.

not much room and we've cleaned up as much as we can.  Still only have about 200mb.  The problem is that the server originally was only provided a very small harddrive.   20GB so we don't have much room to play.   Only one drive with all the apps on it, as well.   It appears the previous group saw this much later and added a second hard drive.   That one has about 25GB remaining.  So, if I perform a P2V from a remote location with Converster on the remote PC I still have issues ?  Any advice??

The issue is converter requires approximately 10% free space on the source disks so it can buffer the read and writes to source so you can do a hot migration

Are there any options for me?  It's Windows 2003

If you already moved the pagefile to the second drive as recommended earlier, you may use TreeSize to find out whether there's something you can either move or delete to free up disk space on the C: drive.

Thanks to all.   I was able to contact the vendor of the most used application and he was able to free up about 1.9GB for me on his system.
