Hi Teams,
I have one physical file server with more than 3TB which direct connect to SAN using iSCSI. We planning migrate/convert it to Virtual Server. Here the situation
Physical File Server
- run on Windows Server 2008 Std R2
- Disk 1 (D:\) Data1 1TB - direct connect to SAN using iSCSI
- Disk 2 (E:\) Data2 1TB - direct connect to SAN using iSCSI
- Disk 3 (F:\) Data3 1.5TB - direct connect to SAN using iSCSI
Here my plan
1. Install new Virtual Server call FSVM01
2. Install with Ms Windows Server 2008 Std R2
3. Make sure my ESXi host able connect to iSCSI storage where the File server connected.
4. Once the server ready...
5. Disconnect iSCSI LUN from Physical Server
6. Map that LUN to my ESXi host
7. Add that LUN as RDM on my VM (FSVM)
8. Assign the same drive letter as in physical box.
9. Verify the folder/files in the shared disk
10. Test from the client.
11. Let it run for 2@3 weeks
My Question, will this step causing and data corruption?
