OK, so I've installed the VM, boot it up, and after logging in with "root" and "theorulez" it asks for the terminal. I accept the default and get the "#" prompt. What does one do now?

I know nothing about BSD except what I read on a few pages on their website. Sounds as if it's a very secure, stable OS, but I don't know what to do from here. Does it have a GUI or is it strictly comand line?

    Thanks for any help.

Same here. Tons of error messages. Seems I don't have what it's looking for. but at least the command "startx" did something!!!! :smileyhappy:

    Hi

if you are new to OpenBSD do yourself a favour and start with a fresh installation on your own.

I looked through this appliance and found it much easier to create a fresh install than finding out why this one doesn't startx ...

"if you are new to OpenBSD do yourself a favour and start with a fresh installation on your own. "

    Well said.

I don't want to be blunt, but when I saw that site full of ads and an annoying counter, I had the feeling the download would worth nothing. I think appliances should pass through a basic quality control before being submitted.

Thanks for your post. It saved me even more time and bandwidth.
