    Hi.

Tried to mount a remote NFS share in an ESXi 5 (702118) server and got the "vmware_esxi failed: Unable to connect to NFS server." I can see that the 45367 port is being blocked in the network firewall (not the ESXi built-in) during the attempt to mount. Ports 111 and 2049 are open and the same NFS share has been successfully  mounted on the same host before. This error was first encountered after I recently applied the latest ESXi patches and rebooted the host.

I suspect that this port (45367) can/will change after host reboot or NFS service restart, and could be part of a dynamic range. The problem is that I cannot find any info regarding this. How big is that range and is there a way to configure it?

Is it the ESXi host that attempts to contact the NFS server over this specific port or the other way around?

Can you mount the NFS share on other computers besides the ESXi host?

rickardnobel: it's the ESXi trying to connect to NFS server.

nielse: yes, the same NFS share is mounted on another ESXi 5 host, which is on the same network segment as the NFS server (no firewall between them).
