Hi, I've 12 hosts ESX4.1/ESXi 4.1 and ESX5.0 who are connected to 12 datastores on my old SAN. I've 160 VM. WE currently replacing our CX4-120 by a VNX 5700 and I'm designing the luns /datastore for te new box. Actually, I've 8.7 TB provisionning on a capacity of 12 TB. The biggest vmdk is 400 gb. I've in mind to ask the EMC architect to create 5 luns (with fast cache and fast VP)of 2 TB each...so 10 TB availlable for my 12 hosts. Is there something that I'm missing with this configuration ? I've not found a really good best practice document event from EMC and VMWare.... Maybe someone have a good idea to share...

One thing to be aware of is Queue depth.  The more VMs you have on a given storage volume, the more potential for contention leading to latency.  You may want to consider more smaller LUNS (say 200-400 GB) which will host a maximum of 4 VMs each.  The EMC tech should have advice on keeping queue depth and contention low.
