We are experiancing the following error on a weekly basis on a Vmware Server running Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter:-

This computer was not able to set up a secure session with a domain controller in domain "DOMAIN NAME" due to the following:
    The RPC server is unavailable.
This may lead to authentication problems. Make sure that this computer is connected to the network. If the problem persists, please contact your domain administrator.

    ADDITIONAL INFO
If this computer is a domain controller for the specified domain, it sets up the secure session to the primary domain controller emulator in the specified domain. Otherwise, this computer sets up the secure session to any domain controller in the specified domain.

We have removed the NIC and installed a New NIC, this has not resolved the issue.  The server has all the latest Updates and Patches.  We have a number of Virtual Servers within the same Datacenter and none of these are experiancing the same issue.  We have a number of .net applications running on this machine currently.  RDP is still available and you can ping the server fine, however you cannot ping out of the server or use the mapped network drive this has.  The only solution is to reboot the server to get clients connected back to the server

I was just wondering if anyone else has experianced or experiancing this same issue and has been able to find a resolution to this?

    Thanks

    Hi,

I did come across a DC that experienced the same issue. We did ultimately escalated to MS as we simply couldnt resolve no matter what we threw at it to fix the problem. In our instance it was a machine that had had its virtual nic removed and re-added and "stale" entries for the old nic where appearing as hidden devices in device manager - removing them resolved the issue.

Curious if that doesnt work have you tried using a e1000 vmnic instead of vmxnet3(assuming thats' what your using) just to see if the issue re-appears?

    regards

Hi, thanks for the reply, yeah we moved from e1000 vmnic to the vmxnet3 to see if this was the issue but this hasnt resolved it.

Hello, we currently have a similar problem, randomly with some stations, what was the solution back then? VMware tools update?
