Hi, I'm having the following strange issue. Going to file a ticket with HP and VMware but everyone knows the forums are a better resource!

    nc522sfp+ card: Latest Firmware

    HP DL360G6: Latest Firmware

    ESXi with all updates

    Latest Driver from VMware.com

    Latest HP Proliant Management Agents

    PSoD on boot.

The only thing unusual is that I don't have my 10Gbps infrastructure components yet. It'll be all Twinax so I don't have any tranceivers installed in the cards. I don't know if lack of datalink will cause this issue or not. I'm trying to find a Twinax cable to just link between the two ports to rule out datalink but there aren't a lot of 10Gbps components laying around.

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

Same problem, but DL380 G6, latest firmware installed from HP Firmware DVD 9.00 (newer firmware for nc522sfp was included and installed)

I think that problem is not connected to "not connected" card, but it is driver issue. But I tried using vihostupdate cli utility, to push downloaded drivers from vmware website but problem still exist.

But today will try directly connect two servers with these cards with original Direct Attach Cable and then will try install ESXi 4 U1 HP on non-patched server.

If you have some other information about this issue please leave it here.

    Thank you.

New info: DOWNGRADE firmware of your nc522sfp+, this will help

Gold fine Broadcom NICs, no problems like this.

We're having the same issues. 520 firmware and 407 async drivers. Got a case open with Vmware about this.

Has this issue ever been resolved?

I am seeing the same problem.

Upgraded to firmware 4.0.5.20 and now my ESXI boxes PSOD.

upgraded to thelatest driver on VMWAres site, and it didnt fix it.

So I downgraded to 4.0.5.17 of the firmware with the newest driver and I am still getting PSOD's.

Nope, you have to blow away the async drivers in Debug mode and then reload the inbox drivers.

There's a .526 firmware from HP but until HP integrates it into the Firmware DVD release best of luck trying to get it applied from

    a ESX host.

We eventually deceided to RMA the cards due to the lack of flow control (firmware "fix" to a bug) and go with the Intel x520 adapters.

yeah, I managed to get the .5.26 firmware loaded by sticking the cards in a windows box and updating the firmware on them.

However, that did not solve the PSOD issue.

I think I am going to recommend that we send these cards back and get something that works.

Only one possible way is to use Firmware CD 8.70. Downgrade to firmware from this DVD and everything will be functioning. Not good, but functional.

This is what works for me.

Install ESXi Update 1 from VMware.

Install the HP Management Agent Bundle from the VMA

I only experience the issue when installing the ESXi with integrated CIM agents.
