    HI all,

I’m getting multiples (15 to 30) ping timed out result when doing Vmotion from one host to another. After a minute or two the VM will start pinging and everything will be fine. This will happen every time I Vmotion a VM from any of my three host. Has this happened to any one? Someone knows how to fix this problem?

    Thanks,

    Check your physical switches configuration.

Seems that they do no upgrade the ARP table.

How many switches do you have?

If you have cisco swiches you need to ensure you have portfast enabled...

    Hi,

The switches are Extreme Network and the communication is going from an Alpine 3808 through a 8800 Black Diamond to another Alpine 3808.

Be sure to enable fast or rapid spanning tree protocol.

Try to connect all your ESX to a single switch.

If the problem persist, then it could be a problem with some faulty NIC.

    Hi,

The switches are Extreme Network and the communication is going from an Alpine through an 8800 BD to another Alpine. The communication speed is 1Gb.

    Thanks,

The problem was that the communication protocol for Vmotion was disabled on the network switches

Thanks all for the help :smileyhappy:
