  • 1.  Mix of HP and Cisco Blades cluster. Need to patch with UM

    Hello,

At some point i had to add a cisco vib to patch my cisco ESXi blades and respective vmware patches to the Cisco ESXi Hosts.

Now, i have to patch the HP ESXi clusters.

The fact i have in the repository the cisco one, of course it shows as missing when i scan the HP ESXi hosts.

Will Update Manager be smart enough to say, your HP ESXi hosts do not need this cisco patch...i can continue with the other ones ?

Or i have to create a fixed baseline to add the missing ones and remove the cisco one ?

    vCenter 5.0 Build 913577

vSphere 5.0 Build 1117897 for Cisco Image

vSphere 5.0 Build 914586 for HP Image

    Thanks for ur help.

With the different hosts and patch requirements, I'd suggest you create two patch baselines with VMware as well as the vendor individual patches. Update Manager isn't aware of what's included in a patch and only the vendor/patch itself could contain a logic to install itself on the proper hardware platform only, but I doubt this logic is included in the patch files.
