  • 1.  Maximum number of NICs

    Hi

One of our machines is Untangle firewall. We need to pass all our VLANs as a PortGroup to Untangle. However we have around 10 VLANs. This is creating a problem since VMware is saying we reached the maximum number of NICs we can pass to a guest. Any idea if this is a licence issue of his we can go around this problem? Thanks!

You can assign up to 10 NIC per virtual machine.

Also please read the below KB and download ESXi maximums documents:

    ESXi/ESX Configuration Maximums (1003497) | VMware KB

    Hi seminarymaltaseminarymalta,

It's not license issue. It's a limitation of Virtual Machine. You can not assign more than 10 network interface (NIC) to a virtual machine. It means you can assign max 9 NIC for downlink and 1 for uplink to your Untangle firewall. If you have 10 southbound VLANs you need to create two firewall VMs.

    Thanks!!

    Hello,

Maximum vNIC's per virtual machine we can add is upto 10 only.

However you can try to check Untangle firewall documentation regarding managing infrastructure with minimal Network interface cards if possible under these circumstances.
