Maximum name length of Host name n user name for Vcenter server

what chould be the Minimum and maximum characters can include in the

Host name, User name and password in Vcenter server

The hostname should can be as long as a DNS name could be....

The user name and password should follow the Active Directory restrictions or the one of a single local host, as vCenter is AD/Windows integrated.

DNS host names are limited to 24 characters, Username max length is 20 chars and password can be up to 127 chars.

In our project we are not linked with the Active Directory. so how can we find out the name length

for user name and password.. for the host name i made it has 255 characters maximum

Well, you will have to create the users on the Windows server where vCenter runs then. The max char number here is 20 chars too for the username. Password should be the same as in active directory, 127.

Yes the maximum number of character for DNS in AD is 24, HOWEVER, the maximum number of characters for NETBIOS name is 15. AD will look at the hosts as a computer account, therefore, you need to stay within the 15 Character limit.
