Does anyone out there know if VMWare is planning on updating the VM Converter to use LSILogic instead of the Buslogic hard drive controller? Or am I just missing something and there is a way to do it? I realize you can change the controller type after the conversion however I would really like to avoid doing this.

    Thanks.

Which controller is used AFAIK depends on the converted OS.

Thats what I originally thought when I converted a Win2k server however I just converted a win2k3 server which also ended up with a BusLogic controller.

Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Since the new version will be available shortly I'd try it with this one and see if this problem is fixed.

Thanks, I figured a new version was coming but hadn't really read anything about it yet.

According to the rumors it will be available within a week.

The adapter depends on the source OS. In most cases you would see buslogic regardless of the source hardware. Is it causing problems for you?

I was just surprised when I virtualized a Windows 2003 server on decent hardware and it came up with a buslogic adapter. It's not causing any problems, I've just been led to believe that you should always be using the lsilogic adapter except when using a 'legacy' OS like Windows NT 4.

As far as I know, buslogic is not inferior (at least measurably so) to lsilogic in the virtual environment.
