    Good afternoon,

I was just tasked with figuring out what license we currently have.  Here is what I have

Vmware vShere 5 Enterprise Plus for Desktop Stand Alone

Vmware vCenter Server 5 Standard for View 5 (Includes Orchestrator and Linked Mode)

VMware View 5.x Premier Add-on (with View Composer, Local Mode, and Persona Management enabled)

    VMware ThinApp 4.6 Client License

    VMware ThinApp 4.7 Virtualization Packager

    VMware vShield Endpoint 5.x

    Whew!

The first two licenses are already entered in correctly.  The rest of them I can't figure out how to add them.  I go through vsphere client and try to add the licenes and I get an error Invalid License Key:  License File not Found.

I also see an error in Vcenter claiming that we are not compliant and when I look at the license manager in vsphere client I see that we are licensed for 10 VM's but are running 19.

I tried adding the license through the connection server's web interface and that doesn't seem to do anything.  How can I tell if it was added or not?

Is there a better way to see usage?  How does the view licensing work?  Does it work per connection or per host added?  I see that I have 9 as the higest usage on the connection server.  Is that the number I need to be worried about crossing?

Could somebody shed some light before I call Vmware up tomorrow.  This isn't really causing an issue yet but I would like to get this squared away.

    Thanks,

    Tim

View licensing will go into the View Administrator console. It does not technically do licensing quantity checks as long as there is a valid license. The ThinApp licensing would be on whatever workstation you're using to create ThinApps, as this is applied to the packager software itself.

Can you post a screenshot of the not compliant message you're seeing?

The actual licensing for View is based on concurrent connected users, so that 9 number would be what you'd want to worry about. It won't cut you off if you go over it, but you're technically violating what you're licensed for. You can tell if your license was added correctly if it shows a valid license entered on the connection server console in the same place you saw the usage.

    Hi Tim.

You are ok, it seems that you have the "View Premier Bundle" for 10 users.

That means that you can use vSphere and View for 10 concurrent users.

The View license goes on the View Connection broker.

The ThinApp licenses is for when you create your virtualized applications, the license is enteres when you install the Setup-Capture software.

The vShield Endpoint should be installed on your vCenter Server.

    Hope this helps.
