    Hi,

we are running on some issues in Lab Manager. This is what we required :

We have a Library Configuration that we clone using some automation script to perform our testing. Once we are finish with testing we un-deploy the configuration. The problem is we are facing some issue while deploying the configuration like Folder registration failed A Parameter was incorrect, Failed to log in NFC Server, Can't migrate VM A Parameter was incorrect etc.

Since VM Ware doesn't support Lab Manager anymore. We are looking for a replacement for Lab Manager. Can any one advise on any other product where we can create a golden image and clone when we needed. Also need to be able to update it in one place, and not need to manually do it on each machine, Or at-least how to resolve these Lab Manager issues.

    Thanks

    Ashish

    Hey Ashish,

The replacement for Lab manager would be vCloud Director or vCloud Automation center depending on the features and functionality that you are looking for.

Thanks Abhilash. VCloud Director is a replacement of Lab Manager but it doesn't provide the option for linked clone. In Lab Manager, you can create a VM for your testing withing 5 minute via linked clone technology and later delete it, but I don't think VCD have such option.

    Thanks

I have seen machines getting created within a machine using fast provisioning in vcloud director. If it's the time of provisioning that you are worried about then vcloud director is useful. Linked clones will be useful only if u want to optimize Ur storage usage and have centralized patching by using master images and stuff which I think Is also possible using fast provisioning..

I think you can make linked clone VM's using vCloud Director check below link
