    Hello

I bought intel x520 network card for my m610 dell blade as i read that it support hardware iSCSI but after pluging it and installing vsphere 5 , i couldn't find it as hardware hba, i was able to add software FCoE for these cards but not iSCSI

Is there a way to use hardware hba instead of the software with this x520 intel.

    Hello

I read about the iSCSI in dell website , http://www.dell.com/us/enterprise/p/intel-x520-da2/pd

I did not check the HCL for this :smileysad:

    Hi Shabour,

I do not have experience with VMware, but I did some checking with some of the Intel engineers. The feedback I got was that you can use the software iSCSI adapter that is built into VMkernel as described at http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-50/index.jsp?topic=/com.vmware.vsphere.storage.doc_50/GUID-7A4E3767-CB54-4E88-9BA8-298876119465.html. Intel(R) Ethernet adapters enable iSCSI CRC acceleration for the native iSCSI initiator as well as other TCP/IP offloads that help accelerate iSCSI traffic for the software adapter.

If you plan to boot using iSCSI, see http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-50/index.jsp?topic=/com.vmware.vsphere.storage.doc_50/GUID-2A66A330-A9E5-460B-8982-54A1B1C38C02.html. Use the second method that refers to iBFT iSCSI Boot.

    I hope this helps.
