    Hi all !

I purchased a hp ml 330 g6 with 8gb ram , E5606 and smart array P410i and in the only hard disk attach to P410i i installed esxi 5 u1 hp version .

Sometimes in the event's section i find some logs that say :

Device naa.600508b1001cf19f4e507173f480b80b performance has deteriorated. I/O latency increased from average value of 23784 microseconds to 498044 microseconds.
    warning
    09/08/2012 8.57.49
    localhost.lan

The device is Hp smart array P410i . So i upgrade all kind of firmware but nothing happened .

    Please help!

Are there VMs running on a datastore on this single disk as well, or is there just an ESXi install there with no VMs running on the local datastore?

Virtuali machines run on a local datastore .

Does the P410 controller have a cache module? What size and is it backed up (BBWC/FBWC) to be able to operate in write-back mode?

This controller is (unfortunately) available with "zero memory" which is - at least in my opinion - an absolute no-go for ESXi.

i agree with you . the controller hasn't the module but it is not indicated in hp matrix about the compatibility.

now how i can workaround this without purchase a module?

If the warning you get is related to the "zero memory" controller, I'm afraid there's no workaround for it.

Anyway, with BBWC/FBWC (I prefer FBWC) the disk performance usually increases by factor 10 or better.

I'm very disappointed about that and i'm thinking not to buy a hp proliant server for the future , because this issue isn't reported clearly in support matrix. And vmware ?

This not only applies to HP servers, it's the same for all other vendors too. What HP calls BBWC/FBWC is called BBU for e.g. Dell, IBM and Fujitsu. ESXi does does not do write caching on the OS side - for security reasons in case of e.g. power failure - and fully relies on the RAID controllers capabilities. And the RAID controllers only switch to write-back mode if they have battery or flash cache for the same security reason.

I agree with you another time ; but what i mean is that if i need this module with that controller , you ( vendor ) have to  indicate that it is necessary in the compatibility matrix  , or not ? I think it's logical . Because i have finished the budget and now i don't know how resolve it .

    ... you ( vendor ) have to  indicate ...

Just to clarify, this is a user's forum and I don't work for VMware. Anyway, being an IT consultant I always recommend this to my clients in case they plan to use local storage.
