  • 1.  How to safely delete “Zombie” VMDK files

    Posted May 11, 2021 06:24 PM

    Hello Everyone,

I work in an environment that has over 4500 VMs and I'm trying to clean it up. One of the things I wanted to clean up is zombie VMDK files which according to RVTools, I have plenty. I don't want to do it manually but I think a script is pretty "dangerous".

What is the proper way of deleting those files?

    Thank you,

    Ravi

Even in vROPs orphaned VMDKs cannot be deleted in a automatic or semi-automatic fashion. They give you the path and you need to clean up "manually". See below for the warning and that there isn't an option to 'Delete'.

Do you have any Dashboards in vRops for Zombie VM's.

    Like you showed below Image.
