How to Change IP address for VM Using Vsphere Client?

Hello,

I have Esxi 5.0.0, and using vsphere client 5.0.0 and deployed one VM with Centos 5.6.

Can I change Ipadress allotted to VM which is already installed?

Could you please let me know detail steps to execute in order to change IPaddress if it is allowed using Vsphere Client 5.0.0

Hello and Welcome to the Communities.

Connect with your VI Client on host vmware, click in your virtual machine > right click > Open Console > Login into Guest Os > If necessary use ctrl+alt+insert

to change ip addr, via VI Client, you only can do it using open console, into the Guest OS. Which is your idea ?

dont forget of connect virtual adapter using edit settings of virtual machine

looks like i got my answer, I can use PowerCLI scipts to change IPaddress. i need to search for more details in terms of Power CLI. Thanks for responding my query

Thanks a lot for such a quick and indetail explaination for changing IP address for Guest OS installed with Red Hat based system.

Is there any way for changing the IPaddress using Vsphere InfraStructure Client /  Vcenter Client externally meaning, I do not want to enter in VM box as it would be a Black box to me, so been admin, what I would require to use is only Vsphere InfraStructure Client.

As MauroBonder had said, the IP address used by a VM is controlled by the guest OS and not VMware.  VMware shows you what IP addresses the guest is using, but it's an "information only" type of item.

You can take a look at this blog its for changing IP on Windows VM, Probably using Power CLI it should be possible on linux VM
