  • 1.  How to change ESX Host from one physical switch to another?

    Hi guys:

    Dear friends, today, i want to change the port of my host from one physical switch to another?

    Can i do this changing in live mode, i mean without turning of the Hosts?

    Yes, you may do it without turning off the hosts. But please be aware that you may lose your networking connecting for your COS or VMs connecting to this port during doing the changing.

    if you have VMware HA enable, please make sure it's connected to the new switch before 12 seconds. or you can team the ports then do it live. it's just the same scenario for a physical server. no difference except for HA part.

    well if you have NIC redundancy than it shouldn't be a problem when your environment is configured the correct way. However judging by the fact that you ask this on the VMTN community I would go safe and do this in the evening when you can possibly afford downtime.
